    Garth Brooks is a jerk.

    Apparently Garth Brooks is a jerk and has a bunch of copyrights on his music so getting anything on youtube was impossible but I found something for you, Melissa.  You were always the one who knew all the lyrics to this song not just some of them like the rest of us.

    DISCLAIMER: I do not enjoy country music but people I care about seem to like it and these songs are for them.  I hope my music cred is still intact.

    Small animals fit in there.

    I finished the tote I was working on for my auntie and I was correct in my estimation of its final size.  It’s HUGE.

    I still think it looks pretty sweet though.  Like a pinata on your shoulder.  I didn’t end up doing crocheted straps.  Instead I bought these straps at Joann’s and used 6x6 sc pieces to attach them to the tote.  I also painstakingly hand-stitched the lining together and onto the bag.  It was a labor of love.

    Today’s song is for Jess.  I know you like this Taylor Swift character.  I’d never heard this song before just now but it seems appropriate and it came out in the Hunger Games so it can’t be that bad.

    This song goes out to Danny.  This song reminds me of that time we went trick-or-treating around Melissa Corral’s house and you were dressed like a priest and I was dressed like God.  We may or may not have used pillow cases for the candy, more than likely they were Big8 bags. ;)

    WIP Wednesday: Everything but the kitchen sink

    My favorite auntie, Perla, saw a crocheted bag at Target and took a photo of it to see if she or my grandma possibly could figure out how to make it.

    We were having lunch while I was in town and she showed it to me and I immediately said I could make it, even though I wasn’t sure I could.

    Fast forward to several months later and I am working on the largest tote in the world.  I really hope she wasn’t banking on having a mini-tote because this one will hold everything.

    I think I matched the colors and design pretty well but I’d really like to line the bag and don’t really have any idea how to do it.  Also, this pattern calls for crocheted straps and I’ve always found these to be flimsy, any suggestions on how to make these sturdier or perhaps an alternative strap that has worked nicely for you?

    This will probably embarrass the both of us, but this one goes out to one of my oldest friends, Michael.  I remember when we were both in puppy love with each other and you told me something to the effect of this song reminded you of me.  This thrilled my little girl heart.  I can’t listen to it without thinking of you.

    Sarah’s Summer Song Series

    I was sitting in the car last weekend, waiting for the BF to pick up our Thai food and listening to the radio.  They played that Gotye song Somebody that I Used to Know and I was thinking about people that are still my friends but I don’t talk to them everyday and when I go home I don’t necessarily get to see them but I still think about them and want the best for them.

    Some of my fondest memories are associated with music.  When I think of certain people songs often pop into my head like a song on the soundtrack of my life.  So, that gave me the idea to dedicate songs to people that I know here on the blog.  I’ll try to write posts as I think of the person or the song and I want to get through all my fb friends at least.  Like all things, I’ll do it until I get bored or busy. 

    This first one is for my best friend and boyfriend.
